STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
We believe that ...
- The Holy Bible, consisting of (66) Sixty-Six Books, thirty-nine (39) in Old Testament and twenty-seven (27) in New Testament, is the inspired Word of God conveying to man revelations of God, His will, purpose and plan concerning man and the entire creation. It has the final authority in all matters concerning Christian conduct, doctrine, faith and ministry (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Prov.30:5-6).
- God is the Supreme Being, the self-existing One and the Almighty. The God-Head consist of three separate persons who are co-equal and perfectly united in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Jn.5:7; Mat.28:19-20).
- Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, the Word of God and was born of a virgin, crucified physically. He died and was buried. He had bodily resurrection and ascended to heaven physically and will return physically too. (Jn.1:2, 14; Jn.3:16; Mat.3:17; Acts 1:9-11;
- The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, the third person in the God-head, (co[1]equal) having the same ability and power with others in the God-Head. (Mk.1:10; I Jn.5:7.
- Man is made in God’s image after God’s likeness, having God’s nature, made up of body, soul and spirit. The earth was given to man to have full authority over it. But man fell from his original creation, lost his dominion over the earth and over himself. The fall was by a reason of disobedience to God and since became depraved in nature, having lost God’s righteousness and character, so that the natural man is born a sinner. Gen.1:20-31; Gen.2:10; Rom.3:23).
- Sin is transgressing God’s laws; the manifestations of ungodly characteristics in thoughts, words and deeds, punishable with eternal death, (Rom.5:12-17; Rom.6:23; Ps.51:5; Rev.3:1; Eph.2:1-3).
- Repentance is the complete turning away from sin in its entirety and its pleasures. And this can only come through godly sorrow arising from conviction of guilt by the Holy Spirit working in the sinner’s heart. Prov.28:13; Ezek.18:21-28; I John 1:9; Luk.24:46-47; Isa.55:7.
- Salvation is the free gift of God obtainable by Grace through faith and in its entirety provides for forgiveness, justification, holiness, sanctification and redemption from the curse of the law. That this salvation is made available by the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ on the cross for all men, made available to any man who believes by faith and not by works. 2 Cor.5:17-21; Eph.2:8-9; Jn.3:3-8; Rom.3:24-30.
- Water Baptism is essential to our obedience after reconciliation with God. Water Baptism is by immersion in water done in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. It symbolizes the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It does not however save or cleanse from sin. Mat.28:19; Mark 16:15-16; Acts 2:38; Acts 19:1-6.
- The Lord’s Supper was instituted by Jesus Christ so that all believers might partake in it regularly. It shows forth the blood that was shed and the flesh that was crucified on the cross. Believers are to continue this practice to remember Christ till His second coming. Anyone who partakes of it unworthily incurs damnation unto himself. It is a vital reminder of the new covenant. Mat.26:26-29; Lk.22:17-20; I Cor.11:23-30.
- The Holy Ghost Baptism is the endowment of power, the promise of the Father to every believer with initial evidence of speaking in tongues (divine ability to speak a new language not previously learnt) as the Spirit gives utterance. It is not, however, a pre-requisite for salvation. We believe that all Christians can speak in tongues on being baptized with the Holy Ghost. Lk.3:16; Matt.3:11; Jn.7:37-39; Jn.16:12-15; Acts 1:5-8; Acts 19:1-6; I Cor.12:1-30; I Cor.14:1-end.
- Spiritual Gifts are the manifestation of the Holy Ghost in the life of every believer for the corporate working of the body of Jesus Christ. These manifestations are supernatural; they are not acquired but given out and operated by the distributive and operative will of the Holy Ghost. However, the manifestations are subject to the individual. I Cor.12:1-end; 14:1-40.
- Ministry Gifts are the calling of men by Jesus Christ to occupy various offices to minister to the satisfaction and perfection of the body of Christ. Eph.4:11.
- Marriage is the binding of two in one (male and female) to the exclusion of all else, in love and unity for the purpose of fellowship and procreation. In its perfection divorces are not allowed. It is binding. God forbids unequal yoke in marriage (believer marrying unbeliever). Gen.2:18-25; Eph.5:31-33; 2 Cor.6:14-18; Matt.19:3-9; Gen.20:3-7.
- Personal Evangelism is God-ordained commandment and ministry for every believer. Every Christian is commanded to be a soul winner. (Matt.28:19-20; Mk.16:15; Acts 1:8; 8:1-4; Matt.19:3-9; Gen.20:3-7.
- Angels are spirit beings who serve as God’s messengers. They perform vital functions between God and man but should not be worshipped in any form.. Gen.16:7-11; 24:7; Ex.31:34; I Kg.19:5-7; Ps.34:7; 35:5-6; Dan.3:28; Josh.20:12; Mat.4:6.
- Lucifer, the head of demons called Satan, devil, old serpent, dragon, deceiver of the whole world, and accuser of brethren is the author of evils in the world. He was conquered by the death of Jesus Christ and has been made subject by Christ. He can be made obedient and his works are destroyable in the name of Jesus Christ. Isa.14:12; Jn.10:10; I Cor.10:9; Mat.4:1-11.
- Demons are fallen angels who left their first estate through rebellion with Lucifer as their head. And that demons are forces behind all catastrophes, wickedness and all types of atrocities committed on earth and in high places. They cause diseases, sicknesses, and impair natural abilities in man. They possess and oppress men. They are however made subject in the name of Jesus Christ. Mk.5:15; 7:26-30; Acts 10:38; Eph.6:11; Jn.4:7.
- Rapture is the catching away of the saints (both dead and living) from the earth to meet the Lord in the air at the sound of the trumpet. It will happen before the tribulation, in fact any moment from now. I Thess.4:13-18; Jn.14:1-3; I Cor.15:51-58; I Thess.5:4-9.
- There will be a Great Tribulation which will last for seven (7) years immediately after rapture has taken place. The great tribulation being in the latter 31/2 years. A time of sorrow and judgment of various kinds for those that reject Jesus as their Saviour. Matt.24:21-23; Dan.8:23-25; Rev.8:9, 10,11,12,13.
- The War of Armageddon will end the tribulation period between Christ and His saints against Satan, anti-Christ, false prophets and their army. It will take place in the valley of Megiddo. At the end of it the anti-Christ and false prophet will be arrested and cast into the lake of fire alive while Satan is chained at the bottomless pit. Rev.16:16; Zech.14:1-14.
- Millennium is the glorious reign of Jesus Christ that will last for 1,000 years on the earth. A time of peace and righteousness during which Satan will be in chains in the bottomless pit and the saints will reign with Christ. It will start immediately after the battle of Armageddon. Jude 14, 15; 2 Thess.1:7-10; Isa.11:6-9; Zech.14:9-20.
- The White Throne Judgment will take place after the 1,000 years millennial reign. There shall be a resurrection of all the dead, called the second resurrection and they shall all be judged according to the things written in the Books. And all whose names are not written in the book of Life will be cast into the lake of fire along with death and hell to join the anti-Christ and the false prophet. This is the second death. Dan.12:2-3; Matt.10:15; I Cor.6:1-4; 2 Pet.2:9; Rev.20:11-15; Acts 10:42.
- Death is a spirit having power to cause the cessation of life and takes man captive to hell. But when Christians die they do not see death, for they are rather taken up by God’s angels to paradise. Rev.1:18; 20:13; I Cor.15:54.
- Physical Death is the termination of physical or bodily activities, the setting in of inability to communicate with the environment leading to separation from other men. Dan.5:5; Deut.10:6; I Kig.2:25; I Sam.4:18; Lk.16:22; Rev.15:3.
